After a couple of months of pleading to Leicester’s better judgment to allow him to leave on loan somewhere to get some mileage under his belt, Nampalys Mendy could finally exit King Power Stadium and head to Italy.
Making it clear to interested clubs that they wanted a permanent transfer rather than a loan with a view to buy, the Foxes alienated quite a few suitors.
However, according to Le10 Sport, Atalanta were persistent enough to get what they wanted and have finally worn Leicester City down enough to get their temporary deal for the former Nice midfielder.
The French website report on Tuesday that, barring any unforeseen U-turns, Mendy is expected to complete his move to the Serie A side, who will be playing Europa League this season.
This is a big claim by Le10, and we’ll have to see if they’re correct, as they’re the only ones reporting it for now, but they’ve gone rather big here, so our hunch is they wouldn’t do this without having some concrete information on the matter.
Let’s wait and see.
