Borussia Dortmund ‘would probably not refuse’ a deal for defender Manuel Akanji should Leicester City pursue one.
The Foxes were linked with a move for the Frenchman by the English media this week, with claims that they were ready to make a €20m bid.
They’ve been on the hunt for a new centre back all summer, with Brendan Rodgers keen to add further competition to his backline.
Saint-Etienne’s Wesley Fofana is their prime target but the French side’s reluctance to sanction a sale, despite the player’s determination to make it happen, means they have to set-up alternative options.
Akanji was subsequently named as a target, but it was unknown whether Dortmund would be open to selling him.
BILD have now covered the rumour and say there is every chance Dortmund would be open to it, stating that the German side ‘would probably not refuse’ a transfer should it be offered.
Likewise, they claim that Akanji ‘has been dreaming’ of a move to the Premier League for some time, suggesting he would be open to it too.
There’s no claim that Leicester have made a bid, or indeed that one is incoming as yet, yet it’s made clear that should it arrive Dortmund would not be completely against selling, and the player would be open to the move too.
That should be enough to convince Leicester this is one they can get over the line before deadline day, all they need to do now is make a bid.
