Leicester City are keen on signing Sassuolo’s Francesco Acerbi, according to Tutto Mercato Web.
It’s been reported Caludio Ranieri wants to sign the defender as early as January.
Tutto Mercato Web believe the Foxes are ready to make an offer of €8m for the services of Acerbi in the new year. Inter Milan were also linked with a move for Acerbi recently, but it remains to be seen if they hold a genuine interest in signing him.
Last week it was claimed Leicester City travelled to Italy to watch the game between Fiorentina and Sassuolo. It was reported the Premier League champions were getting a lowdown on Fiorentina playmaker Josip Ilicic, and Lorenzo Pellegrini.
However, other Italian media outlets claim Leicester City had their eye on Sassuolo attacker Grégoire Defrel, but TMW are now claiming their attention was actually on Acerbi.
Acerbi has been a key player for Sassuolo in the last few seasons, and has notched up more than 100 appearances for the Serie A club. The Italian defender has another 18 months left on his contract at Sassuolo, and the Serie A club could be forced to sell him, if they get the right offer.
Given that it’s been claimed Leicester were watching several players, with the claims conflicting, this would have to be taken with a pinch of salt.
