Leicester City have joined the race to sign Udinese youngster Jakub Jankto, according to the Leicester Mercury. The Czech national was in impressive form whilst on loan with Ascoli last season, which brought him to the attention of Arsenal.
The Leicester Mercury have today reported Leicester City are weighing up a move for 20 year old Jankto. Udinese value the Czech Republic international at £8m despite their intentions to hold talks with the player with regards to extending his contract.
The Serie A side will soon meet with Janko’s representatives over extending his contract by one year to June 2020. The Pozzo family, who own Udinese and Watford, are keen to keep one of their prized assets at the club following the recent interest in the youngster, and discussions should commence in the next few weeks.
Last month we reported Arsenal will continue to send scouts to Italy this season to monitor the development of the Czech Republic U21 international. The 20-year-old shone for Ascoli last season, and was a key player in helping the Serie B side avoid the drop to Lega Pro.
The Premier League side also sent officials to Italy last season to watch the player, and he was expected to return to Ascoli for another loan spell. However, given his displays for Ascoli, Udinese decided he would remain with them.
