Following the latest reports on Leicester City’s chase for Gonzalo Plata from Sporting, the Portuguese press responds to these rumours today.
It’s been claimed this week that the Foxes are about to raise their bid for the Lions’ wonderkid. After having an offer of €15m rejected, the Premier League side would now put €30m on the table.
Now as A Bola reacts to it, they say Sporting actually have some plans before selling the 19-year-old.
It’s claimed the Lions’ priority is not to let Plata go right now, as they’d like to first buy the remaining 50% share of him.
The Lisbon side paid €1.5m for half of his rights, with the other part still belonging to his former club Independiente Del Valle.
And even after buying the other half, Sporting’s wish would be to use the player more and make him more valuable. Especially because Plata has only 14 appearances for the club so far.
That makes things sound difficult for Leicester City.
The winger a contract with Sporting running until 2024, an a release clause of €60m.
