Leicester City’s Turkish defender Caglar Soyuncu has spoken to Bein Sports Turkey about his life in England and ambitions for next season.
The player has been strongly linked with a Turkey return, but the former Altinordu defender said he wants to prove himself at Leicester City.
The 22 year old has yet to establish himself at the King Power’s Stadium after joining from Freiburg for €22m last summer.
As covered by Sporx, he was quizzed about his future by Bein Sports: ”Due to injuries and work permit issues, I struggled to adapt at first. That’s an unlucky situation for me. And competition for places is very high. One of the players is playing for the England national team and the other is club captain.
“It was an unlucky situation, but I worked very hard. Hopefully, I will get the reward of my hard work next year.”
When asked about a return to Turkey, he added: “I want to represent my country the best I can. I will represent my country abroad as long as I can.”
In recent weeks there have been reports in the Turkish press that Galatasaray are interested in signing the Leicester City player as they look to bolster their squad this summer.
Since signing for the Foxes last summer, the youngster has found himself down the pecking order and played just a handful of games in his debut season in England.
However, it seems Soyuncu is looking to fight for a place in Brendan Rodgers’ starting eleven in the next campaign and it’s looking unlikely he will be returning to the Super Lig.
The defender’s contract with the Foxes lasts until June 2023.
