Leicester City are one of a number of clubs to make contact with Roger Schmidt about potentially managing them. The contact is said to have come via middlemen, and the assumption is the interest would be for next season.
Schmidt has recently lost his job as manager of Bayer Leverkusen, but German magazine SportBild don’t believe he’ll be out of a position for long.
Craig Shakespeare is currently in charge of Leicester City, taking over after Claudio Ranieri was sacked but it would be no surprise if the Foxes are already looking around for a man to appoint in the summer.
Schmidt is very highly respected in Germany but has endured a poor season with Bayer Leverkusen, who currently stand 10th in the Bundesliga. They finished third last season and Schmidt came under increasing pressure as it became clearer similar wouldn’t be achieved this time around.
The manager is said to look kindly on a move to England, which would be of benefit should Leicester City decide to make a firmer approach.
