Earlier this month, we covered claims from France which stated Leicester City could battle it out with RC Lens for ES Troyes AC’s Cyriaque Irié in the winter market. It was also said the Foxes may need to move in quickly as the Ligue 1 side are stepping up their efforts.
Foot Mercato journalist Sébastien Denis took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to provide the latest on Leicester and Lens.
He claims Lens tabled a first bid on Thursday evening and it includes €7.5m in fixed fee plus €2.5m bonuses.
This didn’t convince the Ligue 2 side, who are owned by the City Football Group. Denis adds Troyes have also received a ‘concrete approach’ from Leicester.
Foot Mercato, via their website, state Troyes haven’t responded to Lens’ first bid, but are unlikely to accept it.
That’s because it’s short of their demand, but that demand isn’t mentioned.
Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side are also ‘very interested’ in the winger. According to the report, Troyes are in talks with Leicester, who will have to make a bid higher than the one made by Lens to sign Irié.
Irié managed six goals and two assists from 22 games this season.
