Borussia Mönchengladbach attacking midfielder Thorgan Hazard enjoyed a good campaign during the 2017/18 season, scoring 10 goals and registering five assists in 34 Bundesliga appearances.
Chelsea initially allowed the 25-year-old join the German club on loan in 2014 and the deal was made permanent in 2015. His form for Mönchengladbach has helped him make the Belgium squad for the 2018 World Cup.
At the same time, he has also attracted interest from several clubs from England and Spain. According to the German publication Bild, his former club Chelsea, Leicester City, Valencia and Sevilla are all ‘competing’ for his signature.
Hazard’s contract at Stadion im Borussia-Park will run down in 2020 and the report doesn’t mention more details about interest from Leicester, Chelsea or the Spanish sides.
Thorgan’s elder brother, Eden Hazard, is a star player for Chelsea and Belgium. The Mönchengladbach player has been in his brother’s “shadow”, but is ready to step up and become an “integral part” of the national team.
“I’ll always be the little Hazard somehow. Eden has already achieved too much for that. But now I see myself as an integral part of the national team. In the last few years, I have always been there,” Thorgan was quoted as saying by Bild.
