Leicester City are reportedly losing the race to sign Mehdi Carcela-González from Benfica.
The Foxes’ interest has been reported since April, but according to Monday’s edition of A Bola, they’re now behind Hamburg in the competition.
The newspaper has an article today putting the German side in pole position, as Leicester, PSV and Olympique Marseille are the other clubs who want the 27-year-old.
Carcela signed from Standard Liege last summer for €3.4m, but failed to impress in Portugal, having started 11 times and finishing the season with three goals and seven assists.
Benfica reportedly want to sell the player permanently, although A Bola doesn’t say how much Hamburg would pay for him.
When the Leicester interest was first reported, the Portuguese side were said to want between €8m and €10m for the winger, but it seems that the Foxes’ bid has never arrived.
