With many goalkeepers moving around in this final month of transfer window, Leicester City’s interest in Napoli’s Alex Meret continues to be highlighted by the Italian media.
Newspaper Corriere Del Mezzogiorno today features a piece explaining all the business the Serie A side may get involved in before the end of the market, and point out the Foxes may be a destination for the 25-year-old.
The first reason why Leicester City would go for Meret is the departure of Kasper Schmeichel to Nice. Then there’s the fact that Napoli are close to signing Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea.
So according to Corriere Del Mezzogiorno, it will be time for the Italian goalkeeper to make a choice on his future, since the arrival of a new player for the position means he’s set to have little playing time this season.
It’s said Leicester can become ‘a serious hypothesis’ for Meret, although there’s interest from Serie A side Torino as well.
The newspaper claims the Turin side could come forward for a loan with the right of redemption, and since the player’s contract with Napoli expires in 2023, a renewal would be needed before he goes.
So if Leicester City are really going for his signing, this seems like a scenario the Italian club are open to negotiating for.
