Leicester City are in contact with Atalanta for defender Timothy Castagne, who they may be eyeing up as a replacement for Ben Chilwell.

The Foxes left-back completed a transfer to Chelsea today after weeks of speculation that he could make a £50m move to Stamford Bridge.

His departure has left Leicester with a huge hole in their defence that will need filling this summer and, it appears Castagne is the man they want to do it.

Tuttomercatoweb, alongside journalist Gianluigi Longari, claim that ‘contacts’ between Atalanta and Leicester continue over the Belgian.

Their report came before the Chilwell announcement but made it clear that an ‘important proposal’ could be on the way once the departure was confirmed.

Castagne, for his part, would be open to a move to the Foxes and particularly the Premier League, which he sees as ‘attractive’ because of the ‘prestige’ and the chance for a higher salary.

There is also a chance he could stay at Atalanta, though, with the player having ‘opened for renewal until 2024’ although this is only one scenario on the table and not an ‘established fact’.

With Chilwell having now left, though, this is one rumour that could pick up pace in the coming days as Leicester look to source his replacement.
