Islam Slimani’s transfer to Leicester City was a big thing in Portugal last week, and the developments of the deal are still in the local newspapers.
A Bola has an article on Monday telling how the expenses were divided between Sporting and the Foxes.
Leicester reportedly paid €30m for the signing. The third-party company Classico Sports owned 20% of Slimani’s economical rights, which Sporting managed to negotiate down and paid €4m for their share.
So the Portuguese club ended up with €26m, and still have the possibility to get €5m more due to bonuses included in the contract.
Leicester City were responsible for paying the solidarity mechanism, which gives 5% of the transfer amount to the player’s youth clubs.
This was agreed between the Foxes and Sporting, and therefore the total initial cost of the operation was €31.5m, with those €5m in bonuses still pending.
Slimani was announced by Leicester City on Wednesday. He scored 57 goals in 111 appearances for Sporting.
