Leicester City midfielder Adrien Silva has again claimed a return to Sporting Lisbon is a ‘possibility’, but he needs to talk to the Foxes first.
The Portuguese midfielder joined Leicester in a £22m deal from Sporting in August 2017 but has not had a happy time at the club since.
His start to life in England was blighted by the fact he couldn’t play for six months, having missed the registration deadline on deadline day that summer.
When finally available he found it difficult to break into the Leicester first team, failing to convince both Claude Puel and Brendan Rodgers.
That led to him joining Monaco on loan on deadline day of the January transfer window last year in search of first-team football, something he’s found at the club.
However, the Ligue 1 side do not look likely to turn his deal into a permanent one, meaning this summer he again finds his future in the air.
A return to Sporting has been mooted, but he says he will first have to sit down with Leicester and see what they want to do with him.
“There was a lot of talk about it (returning to Sporting),” he told A Bola.
“Some news out of my mouth and some not, but I admit it’s a possibility. However, our will does not always determine the final decision.
“I have one more year of contract with Leicester.
“I’m going to meet with them to find out if they want to recover me, extend a loan or get me off the hook.
“I haven’t been called up after the World Cup because things didn’t go well at Leicester since I didn’t count for the coach.
“I was there until January when Monaco contacted me. The next one will be decisive to get back on that list.”
