Over the past few weeks, there have been a few rumours that Leicester City and Brighton & Hove Albion could be interested in Charles de Ketelaere.
The Belgian forward, who was signed by Milan in the summer from Club Brugge, is having a poor first season in Italy, which has led to stories he could be sold in the summer.
Others in Italy are adamant that Milan still believe in him, but that probably won’t stop interested clubs, with Brighton and Leicester potentially amongst them, from knocking on the door if they feel there’s a chance of signing him.
The first whiff we got of the two Premier League clubs being keen came from Jeunes Footeux in France, who stated the duo were after him, and that the Serie A side were looking to get rid in the summer.
That was then followed by an Italian journalist mentioning Leicester and Brighton when discussing the player’s future, and hinting that should a big offer be made, Milan could listen.
This all suggests that Brendan Rodgers and Roberto De Zerbi only started taking an interest after the January transfer window, but La Repubblica claim something different.
They state that Brighton and Leicester ‘wanted the enigmatic De Ketelaere’ in January, although there’s no mention of concrete moves being made.
The enigmatic description stems from the fact Milan cannot seem to get the best out of him more than anything else, but the fact the two clubs wanted him in the last transfer window does then explain why others were saying in February that a move could be made in the summer.
