On Sunday, we covered an article from Mundo Deportivo which said Sevilla were trying to stop Leicester City from signing Steven N’Zonzi.
The Foxes were interested in bringing him to England during the summer transfer window and now the Spanish side would be offering him a new contract with a higher release clause.
Now on Monday, Calcio Mercato are saying that Leicester indeed had an offer for the midfielder turned down.
They are claiming that the club were after him during the last days of market and made a £25m bid, which was rejected.
The claims are strange because the report from Spain suggested that N’Zonzi has a €30m (£25.1m) release clause, so it wouldn’t make sense for Leicester to miss out on signing the player because of £100k.
As release clauses aren’t exactly clouded in secrecy, it’s easier to believe Mundo Deportivo are right on this one, and Calcio Mercato a little off.
