Leicester City are ‘advancing more than ever’ to complete the signing of Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumaré ahead of the summer.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who say the Foxes are leading the race for Soumaré, who is also being courted by the likes of Everton, Aston Villa and Wolves.
The website explains that, after playing a starring role in Lille’s title challenge this season, it is no secret that Soumaré will be heavily involved in this transfer window.
He has plenty of suitors, including AC Milan, who tried to get him in the January transfer window but failed to do so.
They remain in the picture, but Leicester have raced ahead, with all the clubs interested ‘far behind them’ in the challenge for his signature.
According to FM’s information, they have ‘accelerated’ their interest in recent hours and talks between Leicester, Lille and the player’s entourage are ‘progressing very positively’.
In fact, the different parties are close to reaching an agreement, and an offer has been made to Lille’s management, although the amount is yet to be revealed.
Either way, things are progressing quickly for the Foxes, who appear to have decided to get a deal done as soon as possible to beat the competition.
