Brighton & Hove Albion target Jota Silva continues to get big praise in the Portuguese media.

The latest story about the Vitória Guimarães star comes from O Jogo, where club legend Antonio Peres shared some words about him.

The former player, who had his peak in the 60s and 70s, not only claimed that Silva has huge quality, but also that he would’ve been great in other decades as well.

“We all agree that Jota is going to bring in a lot of money. He’s undoubtedly a treasure that comes along very rarely, perhaps he’s very difficult to come by in today’s football.

“In my opinion, he would always be a star in any time he played, because he makes it look easy to put that technique into the speed he brings. He’d play in any team and in any time period”

Brighton’s interest in Silva was revealed by the Portuguese media earlier this month, when it was claimed that the Seagulls sent an emissary to see the winger in action in a big match against Porto.

The player has 15 goals and seven assists this season, playing for a club who are far from fighting for the league title, so his talent hasn’t gone unnoticed.

Brighton are expected to have big competition to sign him, and besides Premier League clubs who’ve been linked, Porto are always said to be interested in getting him from Vitória. Initial reports said he’d cost around €12m, but it shall be no surprise if he leaves for a bit more.

Jota Silva’s release clause is €20m and his contract runs out in 2025, both reasons Brighton could get themselves an absolute bargain for a player who recently made his Portugal debut.
