Borussia Monchengladbach youngster Luca Netz has revealed he turned down an offer from Manchester City and would do so again if they returned for him.
18-year-old Netz is one of a long list of German talent currently making their way into the Bundesliga, having made his debut in the division in January of this year aged just 17 years and seven months.
He made 15 appearances in all competitions for Hertha Berlin last season before a £3.6m move to Borussia Monchengladbach in August.
He’s only managed four appearances for them so far this season but has been in the starting eleven in three of those games.
The 18-year-old is clearly highly rated by the German club, who will be hoping he can develop into another talent in the coming years.
And it seems his ability has not gone unnoticed either, with BILD reporting Manchester City were keen three years ago, a move which he rejected.
“I think it’s nonsense to switch to Manchester City at such a young age,” he told the newspaper.
“Even if I were to get another offer now, I would turn it down. I have a clear plan, and it’s simply too early for the Premier League.
“It’s important for me to play for Borussia, to gain experience and to develop steadily. Then we will see what happens in a few years.”
