Earlier this year, we covered claims from Sweden which stated Mjällby AIF didn’t entertain Leeds United’s bid for goalkeeper Noel Törnqvist in January. The Whites had offered SEK 10m and that converts to around €920,000.
The Swede has been first-choice stopper for Mjällby since 2023, keeping five clean sheets and conceding 12 goals from 15 games this year.
Despite the January failure, Leeds haven’t forgotten about the 23-year-old and are back in the mix to sign him in the summer window.
That’s according to Fotboll Direkt, and their title says ‘Leeds won’t give up’ on Törnqvist.
The Swedish club are well aware Elliot Stroud and Abdoulie Manneh are attracting interest from other European clubs. Leeds are among various clubs in the picture for the stopper.
Fotboll Direkt state several clubs have watched Törnqvist in Sweden, including the Whites.
The goalkeeper’s contract lasts until December 2026, and the Swedish club seem to be open to a sale in the upcoming window. The report states Mjällby’s management and sporting director, Hasse Larsson, have set a high price tag of SEK 20m [€1.84m].
Daniel Farke’s side, who have secured promotion to the Premier League, should easily be able to afford the price. In other words, Leeds United have a deal to do for Törnqvist.
