Barcelona winger Ilias Akhomach is on his way to Leeds United this summer, the Spanish media says.
Sport suddenly comes up with a story saying the Whites have ‘won the race’ to sign the 19-year-old.
It’s claimed that unless there are any last-minute turnarounds, Akhomach will sign with Leeds and the agreement will be closed in the ‘next few hours’.
The winger’s contract with Barcelona expires at the end of the season, and with no agreement to stay at Camp Nou, he’s on his way to the Premier League.
The report points out there were many clubs interested in signing the Spaniard, with Arsenal, Milan and Sevilla included.
However, it were Leeds and ‘their project’ that won the battle to land him as a free agent.
It’s claimed that with Javi Gracia and Victor Orta in charge, the Whites give ‘a lot of confidence’ to youngsters by doing this new sporting project.
Sport writes that Akhomach has big feelings for Barcelona and would like to have stayed, but with the few chances he had to play and the issues for a renewal, he ended up choosing to join Leeds.
