Barcelona have told Ez Abde that he’ll be part of the club’s first team squad next season, which makes an exit less likely, according to Catalan newspaper Sport.

The 20-year-old winger, who is right-footed and can play on either the right or left, has a contract lasting until June 2024, with the Blaugrana having the option to extend it by a further two years.

Sport report both Leeds United and Wolves have ‘mentioned his name’ when in negotiations with Barcelona for other transfers. That could have been when the Camp Nou side were in talks to sign players such as Raphinha or Ruben Neves, with Abde potentially bringing the price down.

With Ousmane Dembele’s situation under serious doubt again, and his contract expiring at the end of June, it’s thought that Abde would come into the senior squad full time, should the Frenchman leave.

In addition, Sport are confident Raphinha will arrive from Leeds United, although the article isn’t about him.

Should Dembele stay, and Raphinha arrive, then there doesn’t seem a good chance for Abde to get many minutes. There’s a possibility this could all be part of an attempt to increase the perceived value of the youngster, to help in any further talks with Leeds and Wolves.
