Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson has told the Swedish media he believes the comments he made after the Brentford game weren’t a big thing.
Today the FA have confirmed the Sweden international has been charged.
Expressen have reported on comments Jansson made in his press conference today when quizzed about his FA charge: “I was forced to apologise. It’s clear you must lead by example. But I didn’t think what I said was a big thing, if I’m honest. There are many emotions and I am a player who plays with a lot of emotion. Then things can happen sometimes.”
Jansson was charged by the FA after he questioned officials after Leeds United’s 1-1 draw with Brentford earlier this month. The 27 year old spoke to Sky Sports after the game when the defender came out with some colourful language to describe his feelings over the result.
The Leeds United player has joined back up with Sweden after missing last week’s clash with Russia due to his partner expecting their first child.
He’s now in line to be involved in tomorrow night’s game against Slovakia in Stockholm. Jansson had started Sweden’s last two games before the UEFA Nations League tie against Russia.
