Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson has told the Swedish media he tries not to think too much what the fans are singing when he is playing. The 25-year-old has become a cult hero with the Elland Road faithful, and the fans have paid homage to the Swede with their take on Wham’s ‘Last Christmas’.
Speaking to Aftonbladet, Jansson was asked about the Christmas song the Leeds United supporters are singing about him. The Sweden International said when he is playing he stays focused, and doesn’t give too much attention to what is going on in the stadium. However, Jansson appreciates being cheered on by his own fans whilst on the pitch.
“When I’m on the pitch, I don’t think so much. I like being cheered by the supporters,” said the Leeds United star.
Jansson joined Leeds United on loan from Torino in the summer, and has formed a solid partnership with Kyle Bartley. The Swede’s performances have helped Leeds United into the play-off places, and Garry Monk’s side have a good chance getting promotion this season.
