Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson has revealed he’s only thinking about the Championship side at the moment. The Sweden international has been linked with a move to Southampton following his impressive performances for Leeds United this season.

In an interview with Sydsvenskan, Jansson was asked about the recent interest from Premier League clubs. The Swede said there will always be speculation, but believes with Leeds United being such a big club they need to get into the top flight. The Leeds United star revealed he isn’t thinking about any transfer at the moment, and his focus is only on his current club.

“They do that for sure, but it would be foolish to think of it now that I’m at Leeds, a huge football club that has not been in the Premier League for a long time. It would be foolish to focus on something else. I had a good season and we take it as it comes, but right now my full focus is on Leeds,” said Jansson.

Jansson joined Leeds United in the summer from Torino, and has been key to the club’s push for promotion this season. However, his performances have brought him to the attention of Premier League sides, with recent reports Southampton could look to sign him in the next window.

Southampton have lost key defenders in recent windows, and with the uncertainty over the future of Virgil van Dijk Jansson could be an option for the south coast club. However, the Southampton links were built entirely from the club reportedly sending a scout to watch Leeds, and then several newspapers took the story further than it had basis to go.
