Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino can purchase Brescia for as little as €10m, according to reports in the Italian media. Cellino has been linked with a return to Italy in recent weeks following claims he’s ready to sell his stake in Leeds United.
Calcio Bresciano have revealed the Leeds United chief can buy Brescia in the summer for around €10m to €12m, and the Serie B side could be open to the sale, despite releasing a statement saying they’ve had no contact with Cellino.
The Italian club are now free of debt after years of financial issues, and have become an attractive club to invest in. However, Cellino’s interest in Brescia could be affected if the club drops down to Lega Pro this season.
The Lombardy club are just a couple of points above the relegation play-off spot, and it they were to get relegation it’s likely Cellino will walk away from a deal. The Italian would have plans to get Brescia into Serie A within two years because of TV rights, and dropping down to the third tier would derail these plans.
Only today we covered reports from the Italian media Cellino is prepared to sell Leeds United to Andrea Radrizzani in the summer. The Leeds United owner is willing to sell his 50% of his stake to his compatriot, and the price would depend on whether the Championship side gain promotion to the Premier League or not. Radrizzani recently bought half of Cellino’s shares in Leeds United.
