Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino has told the Italian media Inter Milan have failed to manage their captain Mauro Icardi. The Serie A side have struggled in recent weeks, and again lost at the weekend to Sampdoria.

Inter News have reported on comments Cellino made to Italian TV when he was asked about the Inter Milan’s problems this season. The Leeds United boss believes the way the Serie A giants have handled Icardi is affecting the club because he’s always in the news for negative reasons. Cellino thinks the club were also wrong to appoint Frank De Boer this summer because he feels you can’t change your coach just before the campaign starts.

“Inter’s problems arise from the management of Icardi. He is always in the headlines for the wrong reasons which destabilises the environment. De Boer? He was wrong to take it. You can’t change your coach in August,” said the Leeds United chief on Inter Milan’s woes.

Cellino’s comments on De Boer will come as something a s surprise to the Leeds United faithful given the number of managerial changes the Italian has made since he bought the club in 2014. Cellino came to England with the reputation for sacking mangers, and was nicknamed the ‘manager eater’ in his home country.
