Mateo Joseph scored again for Spain’s U21 side on Tuesday, important in a 2-1 victory over Denmark.
Wednesday’s edition of Spanish newspaper AS calls it the continuation of the youngster’s ‘love affair’ with the Spanish national side.
Joseph had options when it came to choosing which nation he wanted to represent. He’s previously played for England at U20 level, so the Leeds United player switching to Spain was seen as something of a victory by those in charge of tempting him.
AS state that since he made that decision to leave the England team behind and represent Spain, he’s been nothing short of ‘spectacular’.
The goal against Denmark was Joseph’s fourth in five games for La Rojita, and it’s fair to say the Leeds United ace has been attracting a lot of attention in the country of his birth.
The Spanish newspaper make the point of saying that Joseph is seen as a ‘guarantee’ for La Rojita’s No. 9 position, and eases worries about Samu Chukwueze moving to the senior side.
