Benevento could this week look to step up their pursuit of Leeds United defender Giuseppe Bellusci. The Serie B side have been linked with the 28-year-old in recent weeks, along with other Italian clubs.
The Campania club were promoted to Serie B last season, and Calcio e Altro have reported the club want to bring in an experienced defender. It seems Bellusci is their prime target this summer, with reports they could hold talks today with regards to a transfer from Leeds United.
Bellusci spent last season on loan with Empoli, but Benevento would be looking for a permanent deal for the player.
The defender looks surplus to requirements at Leeds United, despite the major changes at the Championship club in recent weeks. Bellusci for a long time showed a desire to return to Italy, and it seemed he would get a permanent move to Empoli.
However, with the Tuscan side’s relegation to Serie B they didn’t activate their right of redemption on the Leeds united outcast. Despite this with the interest from several Italian clubs it suggests he will return to his home country this summer.
Whether he’d be up for a move to Benevento is questionable.
