Leeds United defender Giuseppe Bellusci could still get a permanent move to Empoli despite the Serie A side’s relegation to Serie B. The 27-year-old spent last season on loan with Empoli, having fallen out of Garry Monk’s plans.
Panorama.it have reported Empoli could still redeem the Leeds United player despite dropping down to the second tier on Sunday night. The Tuscan side is planning a clear-out this summer with loanees Lukasz Skorupski and Bartlomiej Dragowski both set for a return to their parent clubs.
It’s been suggested Empoli could look to bring youngsters into the senior team for next season, but Bellusci could be one of those loanees who remains at the club. It’s been claimed Empoli may still look to purchase the player from Leeds United for €2m.
Despite relegation to Serie B, Bellusci has been one of Empoli’s standout players in the last campaign. It seems the defender no longer has a future at Leeds United, and if a move to Empoli doesn’t materialise it’s likely he will get a move to another Italian side.
A €2m fee is a lot for a Serie B side, as Empoli now are, so it’s almost certain they’d try to pay Leeds less than that. Bellusci would also have to take a hit on wages.
