SPAL are likely to drop their interest in Leeds United’s Marco Silvestri following claims the Serie A club will instead pursue AC Milan keeper Gabriel. Leeds United goalkeeper Silvestri was linked with SPAL last week, and it looked a good opportunity.

TMW have reported Gabriel’s agent Claudio Vigorelli has spoken to AC Milan with regards to interest from SPAL, and the player could soon move to the newly promoted club. With Alex Meret returning to Udinese this summer, SPAL are keen to bring in a goalkeeper with Serie A experience and it seems they will go with Gabriel over Silvestri.

Last week we covered reports from Italy that Leeds United goalkeeper Silvestri was a name being considered by SPAL. Silvestri’s future at Leeds United is uncertain, and with just 12 months left on his contract with the Championship side he may have a decision to make this summer.

With Rob Green signing an extension to his Leeds United contract, the 26-year-old could possibly return to his home county, with Bologna also linked.
