According to reports in the Italian media Cagliari are showing an interest in AC Milan defender Gabriel Paletta. This weekend their were claims from TMW that Cagliari are also interested in Leeds United’s Giuseppe Bellusci.

Gazzetta dello Sport have reported Cagliari are looking to step up their attempts to sign a new central defender, after the departure of Bruno Alves to Rangers in May. The Italian side have a number of options to fill the void left by Alves, and AC Milan’s Paletta is a player they are now giving consideration to.

The Argentine was a regular for AC Milan last season, but given he has just 12 months left on his contract, the Serie A giants could look to cash in on the player this summer.

This will come as a blow to some Leeds United fans who would like to see the back of Bellusci this summer. The player will return to Leeds United after his loan spell with Empoli last season, but recent claims in the Italian media said Cagliari were about to table a bid for the 28-year-old. However, with Paletta also linked a move doesn’t look as sure.

Bellusci keeps being linked to Italian clubs, but those links tend to fall away after a day or so, which is a worry for Leeds United.
