Leeds United are one of several sides in Europe tracking Impact Montreal’s Djordje Mihailovic ahead of the summer transfer window.
That’s according to Il Resto del Carlino, relayed by 1000cuorirossoblu, who say Leeds could compete with the likes of Roma and Atalanta for his signature.
They say the 23-year-old, who has three goals and an assist in seven games this season and has already earned six caps for the USA, is attracting attention from around Europe.
Last November, he travelled to Italy to be looked at by his namesake Sinisa Mihajlović st Bologna, with the Serbian giving ‘good reviews’ on him.
That’s perked up interest in Italy, where Roma are ‘on the trail’ of the youngster alongside Atalanta.
Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen have also shown an interest in Germany, while Leeds and Newcastle are keen from the Premier League.
Mihailovic’s current deal expires in 2023, but there is an option for that to be extended by a year if Montreal Impact want to do so.
Bologna have something of an advantage, though, as they share an owner with the American side and so would have a ‘priority channel’ should they be interested in signing him.
That remains to be seen, but there are other interested parties, particularly Leeds, as they plan for the summer.
