Norrköping defender Linus Wahlqvist has told the Swedish media he’s ready to make the next step in his career. The youngster could leave IFK in the next window, with recent claims Leeds United are still interested in the right back.

Speaking to Svenskafans, Wahlqvist was asked about the interest from clubs abroad and whether he would be leaving IFK.

The 20-year-old said it’s been a dream of his to play for a foreign club, and he believes he’s ready.

“It’s every player’s dream to leave Sweden, and my time will come. I want to take the next step in my career. Now I’m in my fourth season in the Allsvenskan, and soon I’d have played 100 games for IFK. I feel ready and I’m getting better all the time. Playing abroad is something I dream about, but I’m not stressed about it,” Wahlqvist explained.

Leeds United have already tried to sign the young defender, making an approach for Wahlqvist last summer. Throughout this season Leeds United have continued to be linked with the youngster in the Swedish media, and it’s expected they’ll again show interest in the next window.

Recently the Sweden U21 star was again linked with Leeds United, along with Serie A side Fiorentina.
