Following reports saying Marcelo Bielsa is interested in signing Racing star Thiago Almada for Leeds United, the Argentine press has been chasing this story in the past couple of days.
Outlet TyC Sports managed to speak to the player himself today, and it turned out he didn’t mind teasing over a transfer to the Elland Road side.
Speaking to the Superfútbol show, the player claimed he’s heard about the rumours, and now fancies working with Marcelo Bielsa in the Premier League.
“My friends sent me that something came out of Bielsa, but I am calm. If it happens or not we’ll see,” Thiago Almada told TyC. “I’d like Bielsa to manage me.”
“I don’t watch much football, but I saw some Leeds plays that appeared to me and I saw something similar to what we did at Vélez with Heinze.”
Thiago Almada has been standing out for Racing for a while now, and has been linked to several European sides in the past year.
TyC Sports had already claimed he’s ‘one of the favourite’ targets that Marcelo Bielsa has for the summer window. Reports from Argentina have been saying that the manager wants up to five compatriots in his Leeds United squad for next season.
