Since Leeds United were first linked with Emi Buendia, around 6 weeks ago, the Cultural Leonesa loanee has done everything he can to justify admiring glances from Elland Road.
The 20 year old Argentina born player has been a key figure in Cultural’s attack and has been receiving widespread praise for his performances in Spain’s second tier, somewhere Leeds United have been looking for talent.
Once again picked out for special praise by Marca this weekend, Buendia impressed for Cultural as they drew 0-0 with Zaragoza. Judging from the Spanish newspaper’s report, Buendia did everything he could to help Cultural to a win, setting up chances which weren’t converted.
Marca say the Leeds United target ‘participated in all dangerous attacks’ coming from the away side. Once again, Buendia rated as the best player on the pitch and if Leeds United had someone watching they’ll certainly have left impressed.
A big problem for any Leeds United ambitions is that Buendia is owned by Getafe, who have no intention to sell him, so a good fee would be needed to change that. The youngster has dual Argentina and Spanish nationality, which means no work permit issues.
Ouasim Bouy, owned by Leeds and on loan at Cultural, didn’t manage to get off the bench. However, that’s some sort of progress, given he was left out of the squad against Albacete and for several other matches this season.
