Earlier today we covered reports from Germany that Club America were keen on Stuttgart midfielder Alexandru Maxim, and this has now been confirmed in Mexico. Maxim could leave Stuttgart in this window, and has been linked with Leeds United.
Record have today reported Maxim is on Club America’s shortlist after the Mexican side’s difficulties trying to sign other midfield targets. San Lorenzo’s Sebastián Blanco and Flamengo’s Federico Mancuello have both been linked with a move to Club America, but getting deals down for either player is proving to be complicated.
The Mexican giants have subsequently switched their attention to Maxim with claims they have already began talks to sign the Romania international. Record say Club America see Maxim as a ‘good, nice and cheap’ option to bring in during this window, which is probably also true for Leeds United.
Club America also see the attacking midfielder as an ideal candidate because he speaks Spanish from his time playing for Espanyol. The story is huge news in Mexico, with Maxim on the front cover of Record newspaper.
Leeds United are in the hunt for Maxim following their informal talks with his agent earlier in the transfer window. Leeds United have been monitoring his situation at Stuttgart, where he’s struggled to get playing time this season.
Garry Monk is aware of the player’s talents after he tried to sign him for Swansea City, but Leeds United will need to act quickly if now Club America are on the scene.
The Yorkshire Evening Post have got a job on to compete with Record Mexico’s colourful splash.
