On Thursday morning we covered claims from Ticino News that Ezgjan Alioski to Leeds United is a sure thing.
Ticino said Leeds United have won the race and signed the Macedonian international, but we explained how the article didn’t seem watertight and how Alioski rumours have quietened over the past few days.
The player’s agent hasn’t been interested in encouraging the rumours, or ruling them out, and it could be that Leeds are one of several options the player is considering. With 17 goals and 14 assists for Lugano last season, interest shouldn’t be lacking.
Now another club has been suggested, or suggested again, and it’s Swiss side FC Basel. Winning the league title for the past eight seasons in a row, FC Basel won the double last season, and are Champions League regulars, so quite an attraction.
Switzerland’s Fussball Infos have published an article on Thursday saying Alioski could still move to Basel, despite interest from other clubs. It’s stated that in May they exclusively reported the interest in Alioski, and it’s not ‘off the table’.
The claims could be more through hope than expectation, but it would be no surprise if Leeds United want a quick answer on this one. Likewise, it would be no surprise if Alioski and his representatives would prefer to wait longer and see what else comes in.
