Ternana forward Felipe Avenatti has made an impressive start to the season, which has led to claims the 23-year-old could exit the club next summer. The Leeds United linked forward has been prolific in front of goal in this campaign, and his record has been compared to former Elland Road favourite Mirco Antenucci.

Ternana News have reported on Avenatti’s scoring record this season, which they say has fuelled reports he could find a new club at the end of the campaign. The Uruguayan again scored at the weekend, which brought his tally up to nine goals in the opening sixteen league games. Avenatti’s record is one of the best for Ternana in the past few decades, and only two players have bettered this.

Ciccio Grabbi leads the way after he eventually went on to score 20 goals in 2001 and the other is former Leeds United star Antenucci. The 31-year-old got off to similar start at Avenatti during the 2013/14 season, and the forward eventually ended up on 19 goals.

Antenucci’s prowess in front of goal earned him a move to Leeds United that summer, and history could be repeating itself. The SPAL forward then went on to be the the top scorer for Leeds United in his debut season in England.

Avenatti’s contract expires in six months with no signs of talks with Ternana over extending this. The player has insisted he will see out the season with the Italian side, but a move to a new club looks on the cards given his form this season. Leeds United have been one of the clubs showing an interest in the South American in recent months, with claims in the summer they made an approach for him.
