The agent of Leeds United star Pontus Jansson has told the Swedish media his client wants to be in the Premier League next season. The Swede has been linked with a move to Southampton in recent days, following reports Virgil van Dijk could leave the club this summer.
Speaking to Expressen, Martin Dahlin was asked about the future of Jansson and whether any other clubs had made an approach for the player. Dahlin said the Leeds United defender is keen to take the next step in his career, but for now he will concentrate on his current club. The former Blackburn Rovers forward confirmed there was interest from clubs, but wasn’t prepared to name these.
“He has set his sights on playing in the Premier League next season, that I can say. But right now he focuses solely on Leeds. The interest is high, but you will not get me to speak about specific clubs,” said Jansson’s agent.
Jansson committed himself to Leeds United just a few months ago, making his loan move from Torino. The Sweden international has never hidden his desire to play in the Premier League, and with Leeds United’s promotion challenge faltering in recent weeks the question becomes more pressing.
