Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson has told the Swedish media he would be open to returning to Malmo one day. The 26-year-old started his career with his hometown club before his move to Italy with Torino.
Speaking to Fotbollskanalen, the Leeds United star was asked about the possibility of returning to Sweden, and to Malmo specifically. Jansson said it’s something he would like to do, a wish shared by his friends and family. The Swede believes it could be an option to one day return, as long as Malmo want him.
“That’s what I want anyway, and I think everyone wants this, everyone I grew up with, my friends and family. They would want to see me in back at Malmo. If MFF want me,” said Jansson.
Jansson has never hidden his love for Malmo, but it’s unlikely he would return to the club at this stage of his career. The Sweden international has just committed himself to Leeds United for the next three years, and has spoken of his dream to play in the Premier League with the Elland Road club.
The Swedish league has been attracting some of the country’s stars back in recent years, but this has normally been in the latter stages of their careers.
