Leeds United forward Chris Wood has been named in the EFL Team of the Week following his performance against Birmingham City on Friday night. The New Zealand international has been in impressive form for Leeds United this season, and has been instrumental in their push for promotion to the Premier League.

EFL.com have today released their team of the week for last weekend’s round of matches, and the Leeds United star has made the cut. Wood scored two goals during his side’s 3-1 victory, which consolidated Garry Monk’s sides place in the play-off spots. Wood opened the scoring for Leeds United, and then was on hand to score the winner shortly after Birmingham City had levelled the score.

“A sublime lobbed finish put the Whites in front at St Andrews and, just moments after being pegged back, he finished from close range to reach the 25-goal landmark for the season,” said ELF.com.

Wood’s two goals against Birmingham City put in him out on his own as the top scorer in the Championship after going into the game level with Newcastle United’s Dwight Gayle. The Leeds United player has already surpassed his tally for last season, and his goals will be key for the club’s promotion ambitions.
