Leeds United defender Kyle Bartley has defended his teammates Chris Woods and Hadi Sacko following the draw with Wigan Athletic on Tuesday night. The 1-1 draw with Wigan Athletic meant Garry Monk’s side haven’t recorded a win in two games.

Speaking to the YEP, Bartley said the fans and media don’t always know what is going on behind the scenes at the club. The former Arsenal player highlighted Woods has recently been away with New Zealand on international duty, and Sacko has been carrying injuries in recent games. Bartley said the season is long, and the players do need looking after.

“The fans, the media, they don’t always know the full picture. Woody travelled away on international duty and Hadi’s been struggling a lot with a couple of knocks. It’s a long season and the players need protecting,” said the Leeds United star.

Tuesday night’s draw with Wigan Athletic means Leeds United have only won one of their last four league games, which has resulted in them dropping down to 14th in the table. Leeds United had turned their season around last month after a poor start, and now need to get back to winning ways.
