Two days ago, Het Belang van Limburg reported Luton Town and Leeds United are the main contenders to sign Sint-Truiden’s Daiki Hashioka in the winter market.
On Sunday, Het Nieuwsblad stated the right-back is on his way to Elland Road. Later that day, journalist Sacha Tavolieri explained that Luton Town are close to hijacking Leeds’ deal for the 24-year-old.
Het Belang van Limburg have a fresh report and their title says ‘tug of war’ between Luton Town and Leeds for the STVV player.
Within the report, it’s claimed Hashioka is keen on making a switch to England, where the Hatters and the Championship side are the main candidates.
HBVL further add the Japan international would prefer the Premier League side since they have a ‘real chance’ of avoiding relegation this season. Luton Town are currently 18th in the table, trailing 17th placed Everton by a point, with a game in hand.
Tavolieri took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to add that Hashioka has ‘agreed personal terms’ with Luton Town.
Luton Town playing in the top flight gives them a ‘logical advantage’ over Leeds United.
This could be a blow for Daniel Farke’s side in their pursuit of the fullback.
