Avellino defender Layousse Diallo is on the verge of being loaned out to Lega Pro side Casertana, according to claims in Italy. The 19-year-old was linked with a move to Leeds United earlier in the season after impressing for the Serie B side.
Tuttosport have today reported Diallo will join Casertana on loan despite only signing for Avellino from Fiorentina in the summer window.
Diallo started the season well following his move from the Viola, but in recent months the defender has lost his place in the team. Diallo hasn’t started a league game since November so a loan move will give him more playing time at this stage of his career.
Several clubs have been taking an interest in Diallo in recent months with one of those being Leeds United. At the time it was claimed Leeds United faced competition from AS Monaco, Watford and unconfirmed German sides. Despite being predominantly a central defender the youngster can also play left back.
Since speculation Charlie Taylor could leave Leeds United the Championship side have been linked with possible replacements. Leeds United were firstly linked with Benfica’s Alexis Scholl in the summer, followed by Zulte-Waregem defender Bryan Vebroom late into the summer window.
In recent weeks Sweden international Linus Walhqvist has been reported to be a target of Garry Monk.
