Argentine outlet TyC Sports has managed to conduct a very interesting interview with Leeds United scout Gaby Ruiz.
The official had a chat with Sportia about the campaign which has just promoted the Whites to the Premier League, as well as the club’s plans for the upcoming season.
One of the main stories right now is awaiting confirmation Marcelo Bielsa will sign an extension at Elland Road. The Argentine press recently claimed he’d have no problems leaving the club if his demands aren’t met by the board.
Gaby Ruiz claims to be very positive about the continuation of El Loco at the club.
“We are very optimistic that Marcelo Bielsa will stay next season, we are working on it. It will be an exciting year in the Premier League,” Ruiz told Sportia.
Leeds United have been linked to several Argentine players, such as Lucas Martinez Quarta, Juan Foyth and Sergio Romero. The scout says he can’t reveal a lot about these plans.
“I can’t anticipate anything. It’s because during the confinement we didn’t know what was going to happen and we generated many lists with many options and names for different positions. Now, we’ll try to bring to fruition the players with preferences to strengthen the team.”
Still, he’s made it clear that the club are not looking to make a big number of signings this summer.
“Nor should I get into the number of reinforcements, but our idea is not to make a revolution, far from it. We have enormous confidence in the players that are there right now. In England they call it: ‘enjoy the moment’ and we know we have an amazing group and dressing room, with a union and profiles of top-level hard-working footballers. We will maintain that backbone and the number of signings will not be very high.”
Quality over quantity seems to be the plan for Leeds United when it comes to signings this summer.
