The agent of Stuttgart midfielder Alexandru Maxim has rejected an offer from Club America following recent talks. The Romanian looks set to leave German side either in this window or the summer, and he’s also been linked with Leeds United.
Stuttgarter Nachrichten have spoken to Herbert Briem about the future of Maxim following interest from Club America in the past few days. Briem has confirmed the Mexican club do want to sign Maxim, but only a free transfer.
The player’s agent said he will not entertain such an offer, given the attacking midfielder is contracted to Stuttgart until June 2019.
“We categorically exclude that,” said Maxim’s agent on the Leeds United and Club America target.
We covered reports from Germany and Mexico earlier in the week that Leeds United faced competition to sign Maxim. Both Leeds United and Club America have held talks to sign the Romania international after claims he could leave Stuttgart.
Maxim has fallen out of favour with Stuttgart boss Hannes Wolf, and the German coach recently said they would listen to offers for the player.
