Torino are looking to bring in defensive reinforcements in the next window after Pontus Jansson joined Leeds United in the summer. The 25 year old is currently on loan at Leeds United, and it seems he no longer has any future at Torino.

Calciomercato have today reported Torino coach Sinisa Mihajlovic is hoping to bring in a central defender in the new year after losing Jansson to Leeds United and Kamil Glik to AS Monaco in the summer.

The Serie A side’s number one target is Napoli defender Lorenzo Tonelli, who has failed to make an impact since joining the club in the summer from Empoli. Tonelli was actually replaced by Leeds United’s Giuseppe Belluschi at Empoli.

If Torino fail to land Tonelli then the next option is Atalanta’s Mattia Caldara.

With Torino’s intentions for the next window Jansson’s stay at the club looks to be coming to an end, and a move to Leeds United could be imminent. The 25-year-old is closing in on the 20 appearances which will trigger a clause to make the move permanent, and the deal will be fully welcomed by the Elland Road faithful.
