Leeds United have been linked with Sampdoria’s Omar Colley for quite a while.

Whites interest was brought back in April, when it was claimed the Premier League club were still chasing the defender. At the time there were doubts over whether the Genoa club should sell in the summer market, given Colley was described as being the best Sampdoria had.

La Repubblica, via SampNews24, insist Leeds United are still in the picture for the signing, and are ‘ready to battle’ West Ham and other clubs for the potential deal.

Several clubs from the England’s top flight are said to have already come forward for information on a transfer, yet no side have advanced in their pursuit because any proposals weren’t tempting enough for Sampdoria or the player himself.

Leeds United ‘have not given up’, and it’s stated Colley, who is 28-years-of-age, will be able to leave the Serie A side for €10-12m, a little less than the €10-15m quoted back in April.

More important is the ‘will of the player’. He’s happy at Sampdoria and with his life in Genoa and would only want to move if it represented a big ‘leap’ for his career.
