The chances of Barcelona midfielder Rafinha returning to Celta Vigo are ‘slimmer’ because Leeds United are keen on a deal.
That’s according to Faro de Vigo, who say that the midfielder has an offer on the table to move to Elland Road this summer.
Leeds were first linked with a move for the Barça midfielder five days ago, with it claimed that Bielsa ‘calls’ for the player.
That was followed by a report the following day that stated they had actually shelved the potential deal as they could not ‘financially manage’ it.
That had seemingly put an end to it happening, but Faro de Vigo suggest the opposite is true and that Leeds have ‘knocked on his door’ this summer.
They explain that Celta Vigo had ‘promised to fight’ to sign the Brazilian midfielder permanently in this window after he spent the last two years on loan with them.
However, a deal was proving hard to get done because Barcelona are asking for €16m and the player’s demands are also out of their reach. Now there is another problem, Leeds.
Their interest in the midfielder is presented as concrete and the newspaper states that they are the ‘maximum favourite’ to secure his signature.
They back up reports that Bielsa is a big fan and add that the player ‘seems ready’ to make the move to Yorkshire.
At the moment he is training with Barcelona and has ‘given no sign’ about his future. He is waiting to see if he is in new manager Ronaldo Koeman’s plans, but the reality is that there is ‘little chance’ of that being the case.
Thus Leeds could be a tempting offer as it would provide him with the chance to play in the ‘most competitive league’ in the world and reunite with his ‘friend’ Rodrigo Moreno.
